As a Montana bankruptcy attorney since 1995, Dan has helped resolve financial difficulties for thousands of Montanans, their families, and their companies.

Since 2017, Best Lawyers has honored Dan every year as one of the Best Lawyers in America; he was named Missoula's Bankruptcy Lawyer of the Year for 2020, 2023 & 2025. Morgan Law Offices has been celebrated as a Best Law Firm every year since 2019.

Most of Dan’s clients are Montana debtors seeking relief through Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy, but he also brings more than 30 years of experience representing creditors in protecting their rights in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, including Subchapter V cases for small businesses.

Over the course of his three-decade career, other attorneys have hired Dan as a bankruptcy consultant and as an expert witness on bankruptcy matters. He has presented and lectured on bankruptcy law at Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars across Montana. He has also provided counsel and representation to a Bankruptcy Trustee, further broadening his perspective on the process from all sides.

Dan’s leadership in the legal community is reflected in his years of service as a member of the Bankruptcy Court's Local Rules Advisory Committee and board member of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Montana. In 2023, his peers recognized his dedication and expertise by electing him Chair of Montana's Bankruptcy Section.

Prior to attending law school at the University of Montana, Dan was a sports journalist in Maryland and in Montana. Along with Rachel, his wife and law partner, the Morgans fill their free time with their children young and old, multiple pets, and plenty of travel.

Rachel first came to Montana in her teens and immediately felt a great affection for the people of this beautiful state. Through her legal experience and her unwavering commitment to her clients, Rachel is honored to serve Montanans, helping them achieve fresh starts and brighter futures.

Rachel began her professional career as an educator, earning dual Bachelor's degrees from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, followed by a Master's in English Literature from the University of Montana. For more than a decade, she worked as a dedicated English teacher, theatre director, and awarding-winning author. Her background as an educator sharpened her skills in communication, empathy, and critical thinking, traits that have become central to her legal practice.

In 2009, Rachel transitioned to working in bankruptcy law alongside her husband, Dan. This pivotal change inspired her to attend law school at the University of Montana's Alexander Blewett III School of Law. Rachel graduated in 2017, gaining admission to the Montana State Bar and the Federal bar later that same year.

Since then, Rachel has focused her legal practice on helping individuals and families regain financial stability through bankruptcy relief in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankuptcy. Rachel approaches her work with a deep belief in providing access to justice for all, particularly for those struggling under the weight of financial hardship. She strives to demystify the bankruptcy process for her clients, offering personalized solutions and compassionate counsel every step of the way.

Beyond her legal career, Rachel is deeply devoted to her family. She and Dan take pride in their children, and they treasure the time spent together with them.
